ABOUT

The Vegan Punk Brigade (VPB) is an experimental conservation/activist movement focused mainly on non-human rights. Habitat loss is the key driver of species extinction, and human expansion, along with a related lack of an equality-based perception of other species by humans, is responsible. We can extend this perception to include the Planet itself – most people see themselves as separate, and from there, entitled to rape and pillage the resources and habitat of every corner of the globe. The goal of VPB is to change that perception. All creatures are equal and of the same spirit which is the Planet; perhaps if people believed this they would treat Animals and the Earth with more respect. Save them and essentially, we save ourselves.
VPB is not simply a band – it is a think tank for social change. Nor is VPB mainly about music – it is about the message. That is why we use the word punk loosely, for this is not about one kind of music or culture. The energy behind the punk rock movement, specifically, music as activism, is what makes this word pertinent. As a brigade, we are not limited to a few members only, in fact, there is no true limit to membership in VPB – it takes numbers to provoke change. Finally, the vegan part expresses the need to see animals as equal species worthy of fair treatment, however, maintaining a vegan diet is not a requirement for membership.
At its core, Vegan Punk Brigade is a performance group, but this can be defined broadly to include music, dance, theater and other forms of expression. Poetry and visual art, as well, will be blended to create a marketable entity, with limitless possibilities in sight, sound and time.
Which brings us to the Key Purpose of VPB, and that is to raise money to help save the World. This is the “little person’s” chance to make a difference against impossible odds. As a cooperative group, we will have all the resources necessary to make a small endeavor reverberate through the community and on through the Planet. Our numbers will be our greatest asset…
