ABOUT

I'm looking to get a group together to make some absolutely insane, weird, different, heavy, unsettling, and avant-garde stuff. I know I can't be the only one in my area that wants to make stuff like this and doesn't want to be a one-person act, and I would love nothing more than to jam with some people with different artistic perspectives to share ideas with and make some truly creative stuff. I'm not looking for a certain amount of band members or a certain types of musicians for this. We can have a singer, bassist, accordion player, and two drummers, or we can have six singers, a harpist, and twenty guitarists. Let's just come together, get experimental, and come up with something really special that will wreak some havoc and get the blood pumping. My musician name is an idea for the group name, but it can change. Email me if you're interested in working together at [ breakingthefragile (at) g m ail (dotcom) ]

Influences

What mainly inspires me are artists who do whatever the hell they want with their sound, blend a ton of genres together to make something weird, and don't really care what people think. I love both the sound and performance art aspect of industrial and power electronics acts like Throbbing Gristle, Nurse With Wound, Swans, Current 93, Sutcliffe Jügend, Whitehouse, and The Body. I'm also big into harsh noise like The Gerogerigegege and Merzbow, drone metal and post-metal like Earth, Boris, Neurosis, and Godflesh, and I dig skramz, sass, and mathcore like Racebannon, An Albatross, Me and Him Call it Us, SeeYouSpaceCowBoy..., and Daughters.

Some of my favorite groups that I can't pin down to one genre are Rollins Band, Ulver, and Naked City. Outside of punk and heavy music I'm big into abstract and alternative hip hop like Atmosphere, P.O.S., Brockhampton, Aesop Rock, Milo, and No Bird Sing. I have a love for pretty much every microgenre of every subgenre of every genre, and I frequently listen to IDM and breakbeat music, lounge and downtempo, blues, funk, disco, dub, spoken word, jazz, psychedelic rock, flamenco, lo-fi indie, post-rock, synthpop, shoegaze, synthwave, gothic country, and worldly instruments like flutes, bagpipes, and tribal drums that I would love to find a way to incorporate into what we'll be making.
