Coming from Houston’s Bellaire neighborhood, April Company was formed in the fall of 2018 by four high-school friends all mutually passionate about music. With a variety of musical backgrounds and influences ranging from alternative rock to indie, the band’s genre-defying sound jumps from up-tempo jazz to glistening dream-pop ballads. But rather than distract, it’s their unique contrast of sounds that allows April Company to stand out, fusing upbeat Gen Z energy with alternative rock, soothing lyricism, and the lo-fi musicality of bedroom pop. Made up of lead singer Zak Pham, guitarist Davis Evans, and bassist Connor Oelsen, the group writes and produces music in Pham’s bedroom studio.
