This one is tough. Jazz: Bill Evans piano Trio, '65 to'68 Miles, Mingus, and big band/jazz orchestra of any era

Alt/Rock/Pop, etc:
The Who, the Smithereens, REM, all other 80s alternative,
The Kinks, The Clash, Bowie, Velvet Underground, the Doors... very little bit of the Stones and Led Zep

Bass Player guilty pleasures = Duran Duran and Level 42, but I couldn't imagine covering any of their tunes
