TLDR; Novice/intermediate rhythm guitarist looking to join metalcore/hard rock band to jam and occasionally play a show.
I began learning music as a drummer when I was young. Although I primarily played drums, I also learned my way around a guitar and how to write songs through recording some originals on an old tape deck. I was a drummer in a metalcore band for a little bit in high school, but only played a few shows. After about 12 years of playing drums, I regrettably sold my set when I graduated college and haven’t had space to get a new one since.
Recently I picked the guitar up again and have begun producing some songs on my own and am considering linking up with a band to jam and play the occasional gig. I view myself as being a rhythm guitarist mainly but aim to get the lead guitar chops here soon. Given my current work arrangement and my desire to keep my girlfriend from leaving me, I’ll probably be able to gig or practice/jam as a group only once a week or so.
My influences are primarily in the metalcore space (e.g. Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada, Beartooth, etc.), but my riffs tend to come out more southern hard rock at times (e.g. Maylene and the Sons of Disaster). I’ll post a song here soon.
