ABOUT

DRUMMERS: Thank god for drum machines. Enough said. Wait actually to much said. Should just delete this section but that won't delete drummers from planet earth so why bother.

JAZZ PEOPLE: Okay you are probably better trained musicians than most. But where you going to perform this. I have heard of 2 places around DES MOINES. But is anyone having any fun there? Is anybody there? No one knows because I have never met anyone who went, and I have asked. Because nobody you want to be around is there. I mean if you are wanting to have fun that is.

ALREADY MENTIONED BLUES BUT FORGOT THE SINGERS.
So you can hit pitch. But you belt out that raspy smoker sounding vocal because you can't do pleasant sounding ones.
So you can always fill in for one of those metal singers for something else to do.

The truth:
CHRISTIAN CONTEMPORARY OR CHRISTIAN/GOSPEL PEOPLE; Nope, no way, never. Good luck, but it won't help.

METAL PEOPLE: Play with 3 other bands, not very often. Few places to play. Sometimes a decent crowd but every one there wishes they weren't. All girl friends, best friends, parents. So with 2 to 4 people per band member, that don't want to be there, they just have to be. it looks like a fan base but not a single person who wants to ever hear this ever again.

ALTERNATIVE PEOPLE; A little better than the situation the METAL PEOPLE have. Can actually play a bar but a sparse crowd most the time and if they gig often almost no crowd. The ones smart enough to do a tribute band to the right band can play WOOLY'S and be alternative royalty locally.

BLUES PEOPLE; Just go away. Easiest genre to get somewhat good at. So every band member thinks someone came to hear them do 5 minute solos on every song. But if you have went to a gig by even the truly talented blues people it is not good for the venue. Well once in a while on the right night. There are a few great players locally but they themselves are disappointed at their ability to draw an audience.

COUNTRY PEOPLE (OLD COUNTRY); Actually an audience for this if you keep em two stepping. Those senior citizens like to move as best they can. So something you old farts can do with your retirement and still get on a stage. ENJOY!?

I JUST PLAY FOR FUN PEOPLE; Lying through there teeth, whatever genre we're talking about. Go ahead, join up with these people and listen to them complain about no-one wanting to hear you guys. Just a fact. Some don't complain anymore, they have just accepted their fate, kinda like fat people and dating.

ORIGINAL MUSIC PEOPLE; if you are the real deal great. But that means you are not recruiting others to perform this crap. You are either moving to a bigger metropolis were you can get fans if you're good or trying that through the internet. But the local songwriter trying to gig their music, wow. This really didn't even need to be spoken on because it will never gig anywhere. Just tell a venue we do even 50% originals and see how fast they shoot you down. Hell even 25%.

THE YOUNGSTERS; If they love it they will be performing 10 or 20 years from now. But they have years and years of trying to get something going before reality sets in and they start saying they just do it for the fun or themselves or the music so they can deal with the depressing reality they have no clue about yet.

FEMALE VOCALISTS; Lots of better voices out there in the famale singer populous. But not many ready for the work of a band. Most would rather go to 10% of the practices and just show up at gig time. But since this won't fly with other band members, and they dont want to admit these facts. They drop out. Not that it really matters because like 99% of the hobbyist musicians. When reality hits and their delusions are dashed they realize noone even notices any musician in this state has stopped playing out.

LEAD SINGERS: Oh LSD does exist LEAD SINGERS DESEASE that is. But what 95% percent of the bands dont know out there is the singer you were happiest with ever. Just didn't complain because they had been around enough to know the band was to stupid to take the volume down a bit. And there is only one option just sing anyway or quit. So remember most of you, your singer thinks you are way stupid but only says this to their closest friend so you won't hear it and have a hissy fit. And I have asked dozens upon dozens. Some with just a passing hey you sound great out here how does it sound up there. And even the ones who say," pretty good". Because i dont know them at all. Have that look on their face like, don't make me think on that and ruin my night.
