Hi, I'm a bass player with varied musical interests, looking for creative musicians to make good music, have fun and gig. I like a variety of rock, blues, jazz and Americana and like to keep learning new music and playing with interesting people.

Prior to the pandemic shelter-in-place, I was in Two Flights Up, a fun rock cover band that gigged about once a month. It was a six-piece band and four of the musicians sang, so we were able to cover a wide variety of music from the mid-60s to present.

I was also in Jukebox 50 pre-Covid, a country rock band from 2018-2020. We gigged occasionally, playing current and classic songs across genres.

In addition, I have been playing jazz with friends in Berkeley a couple times a month for 5+ years. Until the most recent shelter-in-place restrictions, we continued playing outdoors and had one low-key socially-distant gig with hopefully more to come. We play swing and Latin tunes made famous by Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Stanley Turrentine, Cannonball Adderley, Art Blakey, etc.

For two years (2017-18), I played in a fun Motown and R&B band, In the Groove, that gigged 1-2 x/month.

From 2015-17, I was in Blameless (formerly Up The Creek), a Walnut Creek cover band that played up tempo rock, especially from the 80s.

In 2016-17, I was in the Contra Costa Jazz Band, a 17-piece big band, playing swing and Latin jazz from the '40s through the '60s.

In the summer of 2015, I played a half dozen gigs with Shades of Hay, a Steve Sage band that played "eclectic acoustic" music while their bassist was on the mend. One of our most memorable gigs was playing in front of about 1,000 people at the Todos Santos concert in the park series.

Someday, I'd like to join or form a band that plays music in the style of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Derek and the Dominos, Neil Young, Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Allman Brothers, etc. (on bass).

In addition, a long-term goal is to join or form an Americana band on mandolin and pedal steel. Bands I've been listening to lately include Hot Buttered Rum, Margo Price, Chris Thile, Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Tyler Childers, Watkins Family Hour, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, Fruition and Mandolin Orange. Other influences include New Riders of the Purple Sage, Del McCoury, David Grisman, Alison Krauss, Gram Parsons and Neil Young. I have a lot of work to do on mandolin and pedal steel to get to that point, but it's a fun challenge.
