Hailing from Downers Grove, IL, Matthew lives in Kansas City, KS and has studied with Kevin Schoenbach, Catie Hickey, SSG Carlisle and Dr. Jonathan Allen. He has a BA in Trombone Performance with a Minor in Communications at the University of Iowa. Matthew also serves as a soldier in the United States of America 484th Army Band and Brass Quintet. For freelancing, he arranges charts, runs a successful studio, has played in the metal band “Heavy Metal Horns,” co-founded the community club jazz band “Basement Big Band,” and additionally plays euphonium and didgeridoo. He is currently working on a pedagogy project called S.I.P. (Successes, Impedances, Proficiency) And a recording project with Christopher Arp showcasing all the Trombone Gems by HA Vandercook to put them in one album for young trombonists to enjoy.
