ABOUT

There are few things in life that bring me joy more than music, whether listening to my favorite songs and artists, exploring new artists and genres, practicing the bass guitar (primary instrument for nearly 20 years), playing the piano or guitar to learn theory, and - the most exhilarating and rewarding - to write and perform with other like-minded musicians

I have been lucky to play with many bands through college and within the past decade - exploring both tribute/cover projects, as well as writing original material, and performing in various capacities such as bars, clubs, fundraisers, and public events.

I recorded a studio album with a band in San Diego where I wrote my own bass lines, and contributed to the overall creative decisions of the song structure and mixing. We performed at a professional level at many of the local bars and clubs in the area and I enjoyed the lifelong friendships that developed from it.

Beyond my commitment to music I am a working professional in construction for over 10 years since graduating college. I have a flexible M-F day-schedule career that allows me to pursue this passion without much interruption. I have financial stability, a reliable car, a passion for musicianship and a goal of creating and performing music in the Seattle area.

I have many projects I’m interested in, primarily to create original music. Not all have to be met with one group, or with one project - nor do I have the intention of over committing or stretching myself thin.

In addition to writing, some project ideas include live performances of:
- Abbey Road a large band
- A tribute of “The Last Waltz” – the last live concert performed by The Band
- “Stop Making Sense” live album by The Talking Head
- “Quadrophenia” or “Tommy” by The Who
- A Motown/Funk set for a dancing crowd as a weekly or monthly house band (I have this setlist already drafted!)

I’m looking forward to connecting with other musicians. Thanks for reading!

Influences

My influences are ever changing!

My earliest influences from my baby-boomer parents formed the backbone of my earlier training
- The Beatles, The Band, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers Band, and similar classic rock legends

In my preteen/teen years I was influenced by 90’s rock & Hip Hop/Rap
- Nirvana, Foo Fighters, SoundGarden, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave
- Biggie, Tupac, Eminem, Dr Dre, and the likes

In college I was influenced by a lot of jam rock, which expanded my understanding of music and promoted creativity in jamming - Grateful Dead & Phish.

My college friends also introduced me to some of my favorite influences of the 80’s – David Bowie, Talking Head, and The Police

Since college I’ve enjoyed all types of music from Sia to John Mayer, Taylor Swift to Mumford and Sons, Florence + The Machine to Macklemore. The list goes on…. I am most attracted to well-written and thoughtful songs.

EQUIPMENT

GUITARS
- 2011 4-string Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst - My primary bass guitar. This model is my favorite and has a unique warm-wood sound, with a classic jazz bass and look.

- 1998 5-string Dean Edge 5, Black – I have this 5-string tuned E-A-D-G-C (high C string), that I learned from Bela Fleck, rather than a low-B used in heavier genres.

- 1969 Gibson EB0, Maroon – Originally my father’s bass guitar. This has an old-school classic rock feel that has its place.

- 2000? Fender Acoustic/Electric Guitar

EFFECT PEDALS
- Octavius – Dual Octave Pedal – This is a unique octave pedal that offers both LOW and HIGH octaves, when played with bass chords gives the perfect build to a song in key points like a bridge, guitar solo section, or ending to a song when momentum is key. I love this pedal.

- Fender Bass Wah-Wah Pedal – I use this for more of a phasing effect than an actual wah-wah effect as that’s how the pedal best manipulates the sound for me

RIG - I previously played an Ampeg head and cabinet, ready to get one for an exciting project!
