I am seeking a drummer and bass player, especially a drummer, to help me record my original songs. Must be able to play in the service of the song a la Jim Keltner, Ringo Starr and the like. My songs are mostly focused on vocals and lyrics, but I'd like some interesting beat patterns and rhythm beds to work with. I'm willing to pay $200 for a half-day (4 hours) recording session per person. I'd also be willing to pay something (amount open to negotiation) for a couple of rehearsals before going into the recording studio, so we don't waste time when we get there. I hope to record one or two songs per session, and get enough laid down so I can go back in later and overdub other instruments. If you record with me, you will be asked to sign a standard performance release, stipulating you've been paid for your performance, that no further payment is due to you, and that the tracks you lay down are cleared for me to use as I see fit in perpetuity.
I'm a forthright person. I don't have money to burn, but I do believe that musicians who have worked at their craft deserve compensation. My songs mean a lot to me. I take a professional attitude toward them and want recordings good enough to publish on my own, with the opportunity to garner online sales and radio airplay, which I have accomplished with earlier recordings. I keep my songs meaningful and classy, yet they can be playful and ironic. I like having a good time playing music, because I believe good vibes shine through in good recordings. I think I'm a reasonable and enjoyable guy to work with. That's my story. If what I've said sounds interesting to you, please let me hear from you. Thanks for checking out my listing.
Best Regards,
Ben Sage

This recording showcases my harmonica playing, vocals, and guitar accompaniment. It's the only kind of music I am able to do, because I do a lot of alt-country, folk-rock and singer-songwriter, stuff, too. But this will give you an idea of what I can accomplish by myself, so you can get a picture of what I could do with your help, starting with a solid rhythm section.
