ABOUT

My name is Derrick. I've been playing bass off and on for about 8 years, but I haven't been overly serious about it. More recently I've been playing a lot of drums. I am looking to join or start a band, as far a genre goes, I'm pretty open. I enjoy anything from modern rock to nu metal to metal core type stuff. I'm mostly looking to play drums, but I've never played drums in a band, just bass. The drums will either be a permenant thing for me, or an expirement. Even if the drums end up a dud, I'd love to play bass as well. I've been playing drums for about 3 years but I feel I am pretty good considering the amount of time. Any question's feel free to ask.

Influences

As far as drumming, Chris Adler, and Ray Luzier are drummers I really like. There's also Aaron Spears, Joey Jordinson, the new drummer for All That Remain's (I can't remember his name), Terry Bazzio.

For bass, I enjoy Cliff Burton, Billy Sheenan, Victor Wootin, Flea and Les Claypool.

For music I like to play, I'm not looking to really define myself like one band. I like the ideas of Breaking Benjamin, older Metallica, even Linkin Park. I'm open to heavier stuff like, Job for a Cowboy (but my blast beats aren't quite that good) I Wrestled a Bear Once, and Lamb of God.

EQUIPMENT

For basses I have a Schecter Stilleto 4 and a Dean ML bass (not the Dime, I'm too cheap) I have a Backline GK head with 300 watts RMS and a 2x15 Hartke cab. They sound really good together considering they weren't expensive. I also have a Crate 15" combo which I love for the built in EQ.

For drums, I have PDP five piece set that I only use four. No need for the second mid tom in my opinion. I use Paste cymbols except for a seldom used wuhan china. Mostly I really use just a ride, a crash, and hihats. It's small, but I can make it sound big. I use a Pearl double-pedal and mostly DW stands.

I do have a guitar but I really don't play it much. It's a 90's Ibanez Roadstar. It actually plays really nice.
