Blue Root has form recently as a result of monday night residency at Mission Bar and Tapas in Pittsfield. It started out as just a duo with Andy Wrba on Bass and Dave Brown on guitar who have had a history together playing jazz duos and also in another cover band based in the Pioneer Valley round about 2005. Dave and Andy desired more elements to spice up the evening, so after years of playing random open mics with Dave and never really holding down a solid repertoire together, Lindsay Grace slowly but surely worked her way into the set bringing along with her her ballsy pipes that we can no longer do without. The drummer situation, along with other special guests, is on a rotation to keep things interesting. However, Darren Ovitsky has made his way into the band as a semi-full time member (I guess that would translate to part-time...) We are currently in our infancy stage, however things are progressing nicely. As it stands right now, we are only a cover band, but we hope to be mixing in orginals into the set as time goes on. We all love all kind of music so the set can be all over the place, from a straight ahead jazz trio, to funk, rock, soul, R&B, folk, and even hip-hop from time to time. It depends on our mood or what the audience would dig the most.
