ABOUT

Steve Floyd who is a native of virginia. Born in 1954 he grew up in a musical family.steve started his career in music at the age of 4. He has played piano/organ, guitar, various brass instruments but discovered his love of the bass guitar when he was in his teens.
Growing up playing music was a major part of his life. Steves love for the blues started a very early age. at a time with vietnam, civil rights and when music litterly shaped our country and sent a message that was heard all over the world.
Steves biggest influences were, Led Belly, jimi hendrix, doors, joe cocker, paul butterfield, willie dixon, john lee hooker, Muddy Waters, James Jamerson, Barry Oakly to name a few but the one who greatly influenced him was Muddy Waters. Steve  was asked by Muddy to play onstage with him at the age of 17. a highlight of his life though only for 1 show. His career has taken him worldwide and afforded him the opportunity to play or share the stage or record with some of the most influential and talented musicans in modern times. his credits are vast and varied but one of the most solid blues bassist in the industry. He has played or shared the stage with such acts as Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Winter, Jefferson Starship, George Benson, Jimmy Thackery, Tinsley Ellis, Bob Margolis, Melanie Mason, Michael Burks, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Wilson Pickett, Jimmy Vaughn to name a few.
Steve is also a life member in the American Blues Society, DC Blues Society. He is also a session musician for Sony, Epic, BMA, Alligator and International entertainments. He was also a founding member with such bands as Oyez Sabin, The legendary HellHounds and Susan Summers and the Solution.  Steve has incredible vocals for harmonies and backup. He is a very low key musician who says there are a million other bass players better than him but says I can't read a lick of music but what I play is from the heart and soul "I am a Bluesman so keep it in the pocket and remember less is best". Steve prefers to stay out of the limelight. What is important to Steve is the music and the message it sends to people.
