ABOUT

Early in my career, I played bass in the band 'Nebraska', a country-rock powerhouse in the NY/Long Island area. This band also spawned Tim Carbone, of 'Railroad Earth' fame.

But my first love was drums and I returned to them several years ago while living in Colorado. Joining a first-call, private event variety band based in Boulder, I played all over the state from Denver to Aspen to Steamboat Springs. I left this band in late 2010 to pursue other musical directions.

I subbed occasionally for the drummer in a friend's band, 'Getting Betty', playing original smart-pop/Americana music lead by two very talented singer-songwriter frontwomen. (.gettingbetty)

Lately, I've had the pleasure and privilege of supporting David Booker. David is an expat Brit who has been playing blues, rockabilly, swing, vintage R&B, and Rock and Roll in the Denver area since 1982. He has backed TWO Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, (Del Shannon and Bo Diddley), soul men Solomon Burke, Rufus Thomas, Frankie Lee and the author of "Mustang Sally," Sir Mack Rice. He's opened for Los Lobos, Dr. John, and John Mayall, plus many others. David has been voted Best Blues Band (1985), Best Bluesman (2002) and, most recently, Best Blues Jam (2012) by WESTWORD, the Denver News weekly. (.davidbooker)

Influences

I'm drawn to all sorts of blues- and roots-rock. Everything from the blues masters, including the Kings (especially F & A), Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, etc. to English blues-rockers like Clapton, Peter Green and the Stones to New Orleans funk like The Meters. I'm especially fond of high-octane, raw, rockin', roadhouse blues by modern artists like Coco Montoya, Albert Cummings, Joanne Shaw Taylor and Joe Bonamassa. So, I guess you'd say I'm drawn to good quality recipes that are flavored with roots and colored with blues.
