ABOUT

Looking for s band needing an upright bass player. Church, club or festival work.

I am not interested in touring (been there done that) or playing 4 nights a week. I have a day job (teacher) and have the summers off, so could travel some. contact: robhorne@bellsouth.net or uprightbass@bellsouth.net

Bio from recent theater show:

Bob Horne (Bass) - Bob has 50+ years of experience on string and electric bass. Road and studio work with Bonnie Raitt (71-72) and Joe Cocker (77-79). A founding member of Bostonâ??s â??American Standard Bandâ?? who became the in-house session band for â??Island Recordsâ?? during the late 70â??s. ASB recorded five albums on Island and was the backing band on many recordings, including Robert Palmerâ??s multi-platinum single â??Doctor Doctorâ??.

Since moving to the Atlanta area in 1990 Bob has performed with several 10 piece beach music bands such as; Ed Saye and the Genteels from Athens, Soul Support from Atlanta and Shagtones from Gainesville. These bands were opening acts for artists such as; Atlanta Rhythm Section, Blood Sweat and Tears, The Tams, Guess Who, Hermanâ??s Hermits, Davy Jones, Grass Roots and others.

Bob has also worked the country/classic band scene with local bands Risky Business, and Georgia Overdrive, and opened for acts such as; Confederate Railroad, T Graham Brown, Johnny Rodriquez, John Conley, Tanya Tucker and others.

More recently Bob has performed in the orchestras of stage shows for the Alliance Theatre Group - Children of Eden 10/2007. Black Bear Diner Theater, Helen â?? Always Patsy Cline 2/2006 and 10/2006. Brenau University, Pearce Auditorium â?? A Night on Broadway 10/2007, Cumming Playhouse - Little Shop of Horrors 10/2005. Highlands Playhouse, Highlands North Carolina â?? Always Patsy Cline (18 performances) 6/2008 and Broadway Review (18 performances) 7/2008. Holly Theatre, Dahlonega - 1940s Radio Hour 12/2004, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat 6/2005, Oklahoma 5/2006, Fiddler on The Roof 3/2006, Anything goes 3/2007, Chicago 9/2007, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying 4/2008, Holly and the Heartbreakers 5/2008 and 1940â??s Radio Hour 12/2008.
