The Bret Welty Band has been compared to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Carlos Santana, as well as Eric Clapton and The Allman Brothers by many but what makes the band exciting is their ability to play off of each other, the band really enjoys exploring the dynamic space knowing when to cut out and just let the percussion groove take over and the rhythm section mesmerize the listener.
Each song is readily explored and not rushed as though it were all an original idea that has been made on the spot for the listener. Engaging and powerful the band really knows how to bring an audience into the music and the music into the audience as the band will often engage dancers on the dance floor. Seeing Bret Welty live is an experience you won't soon forget.
Bret formed Bret Welty and The Growlers in the Spring of 2012 later changing the name to The Bret Welty Band, bringing together friends and music he had been wanting to combine for years. After playing with others for over 25 years this is Bret's first time breaking out playing under his own name with his own arrangements and originals. And while blues is at the heart of this band it by no means is a box they are afraid to stray from. You will hear elements of rock, jazz, funk, latin, R&B, southern rock even a faint country flavoring from time to time.
While many songs are covers from other famous bands this is by no means a cover band! Each song is played fresh with new energy and engaging arrangements. This Spring 2013 look forward to seeing some recordings of Bret's originals come out of the studio​​​!
