ABOUT

I am a full-time professional musician/guitarist. My background is rock guitar, but I'll play anything. Top 40s, Jazz, Surf Rock, V.G.M., Punk Rock, Reggae, Big Band, Orchestra, Contemporary Hawaiian, Sophisti-pop, Rock, Metal, Country, Modern Melodic Hardcore, Fusion, etc.

I'm always interested in meeting high-level and motivated artists if not for anything other than networking purposes. If I could have it my way, I'd be playing and/or working on music every day, 365 days a year.

As of May 2nd, 2024, I'm involved with and/or have various projects in search of some musicians.

1) Karaoke Stars (live band karaoke)
. KaraokeStarsHawaii . com
Looking for subs for all instruments; Drums, Keys, Bass, Guitar Vocals, Live Sound Engineer. We currently have a residency gig for the D.o.D. at Bellow's Air Force Station once a month from 6:00pm-9:00pm. We also get booked for private parties. Looking to widen our bench of alternates. Huge work load, we cover 100+ so this is for someone who's into the serious work load (we do have charts and resources). Working project.

2) NEW Original Vocal-centric Band with Rock / Metal influences.
Looking for everything; vocalists, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, drummers, percussionists, electronic percussionists, etc. interested in writing quality original music together. Underground project.

3) Acoustickle ( Acoustic Instrumental Wallpaper Music )
Looking for any higher-level instrumentalist interested in this concept; keyboardists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, percussionists, electronic percussionists, any monophonic instrument (Sax, Violin, Flute, etc.) etc.. We currently gig about once a month. Semi-working project.

4) The Ukus ( Hawaiian Punk Goes Pop )
. theukus . com
Looking for a vocalist and either a rhythm or lead guitarist to play pop punk covers of classic contemporary Hawaiian songs. Underground project.

Alternatively, I like joining people, too, with whatever thing they got going on if it's interesting and/or good. Hit me up to join you.

Please don't hesitate to contact me. Let's set up a zoom call and chat about our goals/interests.

Whether you need a guitarist to back you up, a last minute sub, or someone to join your band. I'm always looking for other musicians, solo artists, projects, gigs and opportunities. You can find me on social media, BrianRoberts30 and/or tyrannystudios

Influences

Everything that I listened to growing up, and everything that I've studied, which is a lot of stuff I'd like to think.

I'm from Hawaii, and in my pre-teens, [embarrassingly] I played (and subsequently listened to and have become heavily influenced by) a lot of Super Nintendo.
In my early teens, I listened to and played pop punk (Blink-182, Sum 41, etc.).
In my later teens, I listened to and played thrash metal and power metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc.)
In my early 20's I moved to Seattle. I listened to modern versions of the aforementioned thrash metal and power metal (Nightwish, Children of Bodom, etc.)

By my mid 20's, I went full time pro and did very little recreational study/listening. I found myself listening mostly to what I was working on for performances 99% of the time. This included (and was not limited to) Hawaiian Luau music, Reggae, Hawaiian Reggae (Jawaiian), Pop, anything Top 40's, Country, Jazz, Big Band, K-Pop, etc.

Nowadays I like to listen to and play any genre as long as it's "good." What is "good" to me? Anything delivered in time, in pitch and at the right balance of volume.
