Band to Join.ABOUT
Hi! I’m a cellist currently living in the Poughkeepsie area looking to join a fairly low commitment band. I’m from a family of musicians (jazz and theatre) so the context for much of my music education has been jazz oriented. I’m classically trained but have experience playing jazz big bands, pit orchestras, classical orchestras/chamber, Balkan/Middle Eastern/Klezmer folk and rock, and funk/fusion. I also have moderate transcription/arranging skills and several years of jazz theory. I can also sight transpose and write my own parts if need be. I’m currently looking for any kind of band that I can balance while I’m in school full time, but I’d prefer rock/funk, tango, world folk, beginner bluegrass, or classical if given the option. I’d also gladly take any pit gigs. In addition to cello I also play very basic piano and mid level upright bass, however I don’t currently own a bass. Let me know if you think I’d be a good fit!
