ABOUT

I'm your basic Conservative-believing, flag-waving, Republican-voting, middle aged classic rocker. I've been playing guitar since I was 16. I enjoy doing the rhythm work and the song arrangement, and prefer to let someone else do the leads and the singing, although I am a fairly decent backup singer. I'm a weekend warrior, looking for some like minded guys to start a 5 piece for weekend gigs. Not in it for the money, and I don't want to be a rock star. I just like the rush of playing in front of a live audience. I am also a promoter, so I know how to get gigs. Haven't played in a band in a few years, and I miss it. Covers only. Not interested in doing any originals. Anything from late fifties to mid nineties will work, but the sets will be mostly classic rock from the late sixties, seventies, and early eighties. I'm laid back, and easy to get along with, but when it comes to the music, it has to be done right. If I sound a lot like you, let's talk about it.

Influences

First and foremost The Beatles, followed by, in no particular order, The Stones, The Who, British Invasion in general, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Clapton, Tesla, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Boston, Elton John, Poison (and some of the other hair bands, such as Ratt and Cinderella), CSNY, James Taylor, Frampton, Rod Stewart, Skynard, The Eagles, America, Billy Joel, Creedence, Hollies, ELO, Devo, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, England Dan/John Ford Coley, U2, Beach Boys (love those harmonies), Deep Purple, Grand Funk, Black Crowes, Springsteen, Journey, Paul Simon and his sometimes buddy Art Garfunkel, Styx, Kansas, Oasis, Ed Sheeran, Greenday, Jovi, KISS, GNR, and Floyd. I like it both soft and hard, but if it's harder than AC/DC I'm out. Love to do unplugged gigs. I am obviously classic rock at heart, but I have been caught listening to some country, such as Alabama and Garth Brooks. And I do have to confess to a particular fondness for Outlaw Country, Willie and Waylon and Merle and Cash. No thrash, heavy metal, screaming, etc. NO RAP or R and B EVER. I have been called a crusty old curmudgeon and rock dinosaur because it is my belief that there hasn't been any decent music made since 1996. So be it.

EQUIPMENT

I have several guitars, acoustic and electric (all left handed), a keyboard, a bass (also left handed), electric drums, guitar and bass amps. I also have a full PA system with mixer, speakers, mics, cords, etc. that's perfect for small to medium venues. I like to set up the sound system, operate the mixer, and jam my ass off all night.
