Bucket of Witches is a 3 piece Roots Rock, Funk and Soul band playing an 80/20 mix of originals and covers. We would love to add a 4th member heavy on Hammond B3/Leslie sounds. We are very open to new ideas, experimentation and improvisation. We play mostly original music but also play cover that we dig.
Singer/songwriter Mikael Lewis has lived in more places than most will visit in a lifetime. This wanderlust is ever present in Lewis' musical tales of travel, loss, hopeful dreams, love, politics, and the evolving beauty of life. These poetic landscapes are supported by an adept, rhythmic, percussive, and sometimes, bizarrely tuned guitar style reminiscent of Peter Mulvey, Ani DiFranco and Bruce Cockburn. Lewis carries his tunes with a laid back, soulful voice referencing Sam Cooke, Beck, Michael Stipe, and the occasional spoken word of Johnny Cash.
Bucket of Witches skillfully blends elements of Folk, Lo-fi, Rock, Funk and Americana with subtle hints of Jazz and World Music.

Get out of the City
Get out of the CityDon’t you feel sometimes you gotta get out of the city? Feel your boots stomping on some hallowed ground All this chatter drowning thoughts well that’s a pity When all you really need is to hear the sound… Of your wheels in the gravel Of your boots in the sand Hear the crashing of the water And watch your worries drown You got to get out, get out of the city Got to get out, get out of the city… Don’t you feel sometimes when the pressure is rising? You’ve got to feel some mountain air in your lungs Well I promise you one thing baby you’ll be smiling Once that fern spring water catches your tongue Got your wheels in the gravel Got your boots in the sand Hear the splashing of the water Watch your worries drown solo (Sing along)… You got to get out, get out of the city Got to get out, get out of the city… Got your wheels in the gravel Got your boots in the sand Hear the splashing of the water And watch your worries drown
Chasing A Dream
Chasing A DreamAngel hit the open road chasing her dream She gonna be the sweetheart of the silver screen Gonna swim the great black river cross the land In the mist on the window she formulates her plan White lines blur at 1200 miles She catches her reflection and checks her smile Burning bridges wasn’t really so hard She remembers what her daddy said He told her girl, you gotta work so hard Work so damned hard Maybe one day she’ll realize her dream She can already see her name up in neon lights Well can you see those lights? Guitar solo 400 miles left to go, then start the show She’s got her names They’re on her list She’s in the know Gonna wake up and wipe her eyes on sunset blvd She’s gonna make it Wait and see She’ll be a big star Big, big star Angel hit the open road chasing her dream.
Old InternationalJanuary 1st the snow was dry and deep Boys on the verge of manhood, we had a resolution to keep So we packed up the old international with our sleeping bags And a big green army tent we’d borrowed from Mikey’s dad We were young and free, we didn’t have all the answers but we thought we had the key We drove up Rock Canyon about as far as we could go Til that old International got stuck in the drifting snow We pulled on our boots, gloves, gaiters and snow shoes To try and purge those Rocky Mountain suburban blues We were young and bold, trying to steal the sun From the eyes of the old We were young and free When the darkness came we only saw its mystery Halfway up the trail we met this bearded old man He was only wearing shorts and sandals And he held a beer in his hand We inquired of him, “Old man, has your reasoning been sold?” And he just replied: “You mean you guys still believe in hot and cold?” We didn’t really know how to deal with this We looked at each other and laughed Then carried on up the trail like the old guy didn’t exist Well I remember that day, we sat in those hot springs and hoped it would never melt away We were young and free We didn’t have all the answers But I sure think we held the key
100% Acoustic show. No P.A, no mics. Just an amazing room.
