Bunta Otsuki is a guitarist based in Los Angeles California and a recent graduate of the Los Angeles College of Music (LACM). A native of Tokyo, Japan, Bunta’s love of music begin in his home, as his parents playlists consisted of everything from Queen and Aerosmith to J.S Bach. At 12 years old, Bunta’s love of guitar began with Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water.

After moving to Los Angeles to study at LACM, Bunta instantly earned a reputation for his versatility, strong reading skills, and his creative approach to any musical situation. Bunta has studied with renowned musicians such as Adam Levy, Allen Hinds, Andy Abad, Jody Fischer, Dave Hill, Bill Fowler, Brad Rabuchin, Pathik Desai, Jerry Watts, Jr., Tony Inzalaco, Joey Heredia, and Jonathan Herrera.

Proficient in many styles including rock, fusion, jazz, R&B/Soul, Funk, Bunta is comfortable in any situation and in any role as a guitarist. Whether a project requires lead, rhythm, or acoustic guitar accompaniment, his versatility has allowed him to work both as a new resident of Los Angeles and in his native country Japan. He has worked as an accompanist for many up and coming international singer/songwriters from Costa Rica, Sweden, Italy, and also enjoys working with US artists, such as JMSN who he will join the band for upcoming tour. These experiences have brought him one step closer to his goal of becoming a session and touring musician, with the hopes of specializing in R&B music.

Aside from his work as a freelancer, Bunta is currently finishing up an EP of original music with his Los Angeles based fusion ensemble, Blue Matter, set for release summer 2016. He also offers private lessons in the Los Angeles area.
