The description that I always give people who ask about my playing ability is, "I'm a good bass player--sometimes great, and occasionally, brilliant." My key strength is that I have a very good ear. I'm proud to say that there are very few tunes that I can't pick up fairly quickly, or write a solid bassline for. My main goal is to complement and support the music with an interesting foundation. I'm not particularly flashy, and don't have a ton of tricks and techniques in my bag. I do slap pretty well, but don't tap, and occasionally I can play harmonics. My general music ability is that I can read chord charts pretty well. I don't read standard notation very well, but am working on it. Again, I usually try to rely on my ear and my scale/mode knowledge to get me along, and it has served me well for the 25+ years that I've played. I've mostly just jammed with friends over the years, but have played a few church gigs and several open mics.

I love all kinds of music, but the main genres that I grew up on and am into are pop/rock and R&B, especially 70s/80s R&B and funk, and 80s New Wave. I'm a huge fan of Dave Matthews Band, The Police, The Isley Brothers, Tears for Fears, Parliament/Funkadelic, Pearl Jam, U2, Duran Duran, Slave, Graham Central Station, RHCP, The Jacksons, Joe Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Earth, Wind & Fire, too many others to name.

Schecter Studio 4, Dean Edge 4, Dean Edge 4 Fretless. I also play a little guitar, and have an '89 Strat and a couple acoustic guitars, but I mostly use them to study music and inform what I play on bass. My amp is extremely basic: just a small 75w Fender bass amp,
