Being successful in the music business requires more than just talent. It requires drive and a work ethic second to none. Chi Candi has it all: unmistakable skill and unsinkable determination. "Music, for me, is just like air," she says. "Without air you can't breathe and without breathing you can't live."

Chi Candi's musical slant is reflective of who she is – a girl who has seen and lived life from every possible angle. "I'm a sexy chick that didn't come from the slums but I didn't come from the suburbs either. I come from the place in between. I know what gunshots sound like, I've been in drive-bys, and I know what it's like to watch a friend be murdered. I know what it's like to get off your school bus only to find everything you own sitting outside with an eviction notice on the door. I have lived in shelters with my mother; I have lived with rats and shared meals with roaches. I have also sold drugs and popped bottles with hood stars. I've danced in strip clubs and been perceived as one of the sexiest women a guy has ever seen so I guess I'm just your typical, everyday, pretty hood chick."

But Chi Candi is a lot more than that. She's a philosopher with wisdom to impart, a teacher with lessons to teach, a storyteller with stories to tell. "My music tells people it's okay to be you. If you are attractive but you are from the wrong side of the tracks you don't have to put on this front that you are some prissy rich chick from the upper eastside. Be comfortable being yourself and reach for the stars."
