ABOUT

Singer-songwriter in a variety of rock and folk-rock stylings. Once-upon-a-time bass player/singer with a popular Boston original "power pop" band "back in the day", which would be '70's-80's... Currently, have been enjoying taking on a variety of material with a classic rock band and an inter-generational community group that puts on concerts twice a year in a wide variety of classic American and British styles (from J. Cash/Carter family, Carole King, Beatles to Talking Heads, Journey, Natalie Merchant, and U-2!). I've got some pedals... I'm not a shredder or jazz artist... I enjoy ensemble arranging, I know about organizing, doing homework, and commitment and would love to shape something lively and nicely crafted with some good-natured people. My kids are growed and on their own, no relationship conflicts about musical life. I readily harmonize. Not looking to fill a bass position, but could double occasionally.

Influences

"Came of age" in the 60's, so lots of variety on any radio station in those days, not to mention college FM... different influences and/or appreciations on different levels, i.e. songwriters, singers, instrumentalists. Top of my head- Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, first 5 Steve Miller albums,Tom Petty, for major overall. Donovan, Joni Mitchell, Simon/Simon & G, Jackson Brown for some personal singer-songwriter types. Zepplin musicianship. But, Motown, Stax r'n'b, rock-a-billy for good dancin'! Those are root thrills and ear orientations. Always some good stuff in all eras since and currently.
