SEEKING

Band to Join.

ABOUT

Above all, I'm a committed rock bassist looking for an established (preferably) band to compose and perform with. Not interested in cover/GB or tribute. Not knocking them, just been there done that.

My tastes veer more towards big, dumb rock and roll. But with the right vibe, edge, delivery, and attitude, who knows. My wheelhouse, to use the parlance of our time, is riff, hook, and melody-oriented music that hits you were it counts. But I'd also like to mix some other elements with it. Electronic? Drum loops? Synths? Middle Eastern or Asian instruments? If it can be big, powerful, and beautiful, then I'm in. I guess experimental would best describe it.

Song examples I'm thinking of are:

100 Years of Tears on the Wind by Masters of Reality
Gates of Babylon by Rainbow
Airbag by Radiohead
Rope by Foo Fighters
Butterflies and Hurricanes by Muse
Kings and Queens by Killing Joke
Grace by Jeff Buckley
Last Night on Earth by U2
Supercollider by Tribe
Fire In the Head by The Tea Party
Overcompensating by Big Wreck
Fascination Street by The Cure
How Soon Is Now? by The Smiths (naturally)

Mind you, I've never attempted to play any of those. I don't want to cover anything, I want to create. One of the great joys of creating music is collaborating and simpatico. My closest friends are from my former bands, and brother/sisterhood and kinship is as important to me as the music itself.

Influences

My influences and musical tastes are all over the map, but suffice it to say that the stuff I'm into found its way into my heart because of the visceral punch in the chest it gave me. Stuff that I probably would have never sought out but ultimately had me at hello. In no particular order: Rival Sons, 10cc, Masters of Reality, Deep Purple, Hot Hot Heat, Queen, Cheap Trick, The Tea Party, Dio-era Black Sabbath (sorry Ozzy), ELO, Jeff Buckley, Franz Ferdinand, Led Zeppelin, Big Wreck, Pink Floyd, Corrosion of Conformity, Living Colour, Band of Skulls, Royal Blood, Muse, Queensryche, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Police, Cure, Bird and the Bee, Air, Brad, Clutch, Dada, Earl Greyhound, Eurythmics, Faith No More, Stevie Wonder, and on and on.
