ABOUT

Hello, my name is Darrell Hicks. I'm 38 years old and I've been playing drums since God gave me arms and legs in my mother's womb. Don't believe me? Just ask her. It's hilarious to hear her talk about it. This is truly my passion and gift from God. My parents bought me my first pair of drum sticks when I was 1 yr. old and they carried them around in my diaper bag everywhere we went. My Dad had a band and they said they would set me in front of the stage with my drum pad and sticks and steal the show. LOL! Of course I was too little to remember but this is what my parents tell me. They bought me my first drum set when I was 3. Then, a few years later a better kit because I tore up the first one up. LOL! When I was 10, my Dad bought a kit from a guy who was selling a 25th Anniversary Beatles Addition 6pc. Ludwig kit for $500. It was a steal! I still play that kit today 23 years later! I grew up playing oldies but goodies with my Dad in various bands. We played a lot of Beatles, Eagles, CCR, Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones, etc, and of course a little county since we now lived in the country music capital of the world. I started going to church and gave my life to Christ when I was 18. A friend of mine who I used to work with at the time invited me to his church, Dickson First Assembly. When I walked in the door and saw that there was a live band with drums and other musicians doing praise and worship, I thought to myself "That's what I want to do! I want to play drums for the Lord". I had never experienced anything like that before. I had no idea that some churches had live praise and worship. After attending DFA for a while, I approached the worship leader and told him that I was a drummer and wanted to get involved. He auditioned me and liked what he heard. I started off playing percussion and filling in for the current drummer when he was out. The current drummer at that time then stepped down and I took his place. He later returned and we rotated each weekend. I played for DFA for about 7 years. In Jan. of 2009 I felt that the Lord was leading me to another chapter in my life and to start a new season at a different church. I made my new church home at Friendship World Outreach (FWO) in Waverly, TN. No sooner than I started attending, the Lord had laid it opon my pastor's heart to start a new church in Nashville. About 3 months later, I was approached by the soon to be worship leader at the Nashville campus about being the drummer there. I gladly accepted and was excited to be a part of a brand new church and praise team. So, in April of 2009, a new church was born making it the 3rd campus that FWO would have. I love playing drums for Jesus! I know this is my gift from God and I want to use it for His glory and kingdom. My dream is to tour the world and minister to the lost through praise and worship and use the talent God has given me. There is nothing better than looking out from the stage or platform and seeing hundreds of people raising their hands towards heaven and giving praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I love playing drums for the Lord and I am committed to my church but I want play more and take it to the next level. I’m hoping to find and awesome contemporary Christian band or praise band to hook up and minister with. However, I know it has to be God in order for that to work. I know it's not easy making it in the music industry but I know that God knows my heart and my passion for playing for Him. God is an awesome God and He can do anything, but I feel I should do my part to and share my testimony and heartfelt passion on the internet and try to get my foot in the door somewhere. So here it is. If you or anyone you know has the same passion as I do and is looking for a Christian drummer, have them contact me a darrellhicks3atdotnet. I currently have a full time job and as well as my ministry at FWO. So if something comes my way it will have to be part time at first. It's all in God's hands now. Whatever His will is is what I will do. Take care and God bless.

I have a 6pc. 25th Anniversary Beatles Addition Ludwig Kit, hit-hat and several cymbols. The kit itself is pearl in color. It looks just like Ringo Starr's kit.
