I am a classically-trained, professional-level violinist (but no longer make my living from playing). I have been seriously studying jazz for years, and now this is my main focus. I am looking for musicians to form a jazz chamber-music group for musical exploration, and to perform and record (I am not able to do extensive touring due to other professional constraints).
My musical influences include (among many others): Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Bartok, Stravinsky, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans. Among my many teachers are Jascha Brodsky (violin) and Ron Thomas (jazz).
My musical paradigm—the sort of music that I want to play—is Bill Evans: deeply-rooted in the classics, lyric, soulful, effortlessly-swinging (unfrantic), post-bop modern jazz.
I am looking for musicians who are:
• Ensemble players: able to musically “read minds.” This is essential.
• Creative and musically sophisticated.
• Willing to give and receive criticism for the sake of the music.
• Willing to experiment.
• Willing to put time and energy into woodshedding.
• Willing to put time and energy into finding performance opportunities.
Please contact me if you are intrigued.
