Newly formed symphonic rock orchestra.. We have a music director, associate director and arranger. I have a board of 4 including myself. All of us are involved in music. My area pf expertise is audio production. The talent I have attracted and willing to work on spec as I currently also put together the business and financial components of the orchestra, is humbling. And the overall response by people both players and potential audience has been huge. Our desire is to move as quickly as possible to offer paying positions to all players. But for the start we cannot. As I said all of us are lending our talents at this point but I am moving steadily forward to get the business structure in place.
So the orchestra will perform classic and prog rock, dance music, jazz, reworked classical pieces. There will be a rock band with the orchestra. However, the arrangements will feature mostly the orchestra as we will write arrangements to show that, orchestra sections or solos where a guitar solo might have played or orchestra playing with the guitar solo line. As the audio engineer I have some very specific sounds I hope to arrange. We do vision the orchestra being fluid in that we do not want to pigeon hole what we do.
Initially we will be doing covers and look at doing originals in the future. The current executive committee is made up of myself, Chris Kellogg, a local live and studio engineer, a music director, arranger and 2 other local musicians and one person who has an extensive background in video production for music and his well connected to industry person interested in this project.
