Bass Guitar, Upright bass.

We're a male vocalist/songwriter/guitarist, female vocalist/songwriter, violinist, and drummer, and we're hoping to meet a bassist to develop a new project together. I would describe the sound as acoustic prog / folk / alt rock with world influences (e.g., klezmer / gypsy jazz; Spanish / flamenco; tango; Middle Eastern; East Asian).

We have a mix of up- and down-tempo material, and we tend toward pretty active/complex melodies, harmonies, and rhythms, and a fair amount of contrast in terms of dynamics. We'd love to find a bassist who enjoys world music, occasional odd meter / odd time signatures, abrupt dynamic / tempo changes, and experimenting with different textures. Having an interest in/ability to play both electric and standup / upright bass would be wonderful. There's also plenty of multi-part vocal harmonies, so singing would be great, too!

At this point, we're just looking for some like-minded folks to have fun making music together. We're in our late 20s to mid 30s and all working full-time, so our immediate goals are pretty modest - we'd like to continue writing and recording, and work toward playing open mics and small venue gigs as the project develops.

So if the sound/vibe we've described seems like something that might overlap with your interests, we'd love to hear from you!
