ABOUT

I'm primarily a guitar player, but I also play several other instruments well enough to spice up a mix. (Banjo, Mandolin, Dobro, harmonica, bass) I can also sing lead or backup vocals.

I took an early retirement to pursue music full time. My wife passed away a few years ago, and I have no girlfriend, so there are no constraints to get in the way of music. I recently had a solo act (classic rock using backing tracks and MIDI automation) and I was very happy with that, but the idea of a full band is appealing.

(I tried to post a URL for that site, but Bandmix scrambled the link... To view that profile, go to GIGSALAD and search for CLASSY CROC. If you find a logo in which a crocodile with a top hat is playing a red guitar, you're at the right profile.)

Some collaborations that might interest me are:

1) Possibly a second multi- instrumentalist -singer or female singer who is willing to work with backing tracks.

2) A band that plays original songs in a newgrass-Americana style. I'm not interested in traditional bluegrass, but I am very interested in bands that use bluegrass instruments in a variety of other indie styles. In a nutshell, I don't want to be tightly pigeonholed into the bluegrass traditions.. I am interested in exploring fusions of electric, synth, acoustic, in terms of original songs.

3) A cover band or tribute band, especially Eagles, Chicago or Tom Petty tribute

Apparently in order to embed a video her it must be on be... but be doesn't allow covers. Here is an attempt to link to a video on my drop box. Bandmix filters out everything required to make this a hot link, so you'll have to manually type the following:

Aitch Tee Tee Pee colon forward slash forward slash .dropbox dot See Oh Em <-(If I actually type it the way you need to enter it, Bandmix will strip it out, so I'm hoping you can figure out where I'm going with this)

then cut and paste the following to get a cover of Take It Easy (Eagles)

/s/isbxe5yby0unh01/TAKE%20IT%20EASY.mp4?dl=0

or cut and paste the following to get a cover of Ramblin Man (Allman Bros)

Influences

My primary influences are from the 70s, which explains the solo act of classic rock. I'm open to playing in classic rock or tribute bands, especially if the mix of songs is suitable for the older audiences that would want to hear that music. For example, at age 65 I'd rather play Eagles than Led Zep.

I listen to all kinds of music, and would be most interested in collaborating with idea-driven people who aren't fixated on a specific genre and who don't want to play at volume levels that require serious hearing protection.

Not a big fan of high volume or dissonance. I like music that is beautiful , inspiring, musical and fun

EQUIPMENT

My latest acquisition is a custom solid graphite electric guitar made to my specifications by STATUS GRAPHITE in England. Also have a Godin LGXT MIDI guitar, a Gibson 1970 ES-335, a Fender strat, a fender P bass, a Taylor 314ce, a Morgan Monroe Rocky Top banjo, the Loar 590 ms mandolin, a Johnson resonator guitar, a Roland GR-55 guitar synth, a Fender Blues Deluxe tube amp, a bunch of boutique pedals and a small PA. Most of my pedals and rack gear is MIDI controllable. I play along with backing tracks, and MIDI commands are embedded in the song to control the pedals and other effects in real time.
