Generally liking the more mellow stuff because I play for my liking, but definitely like to play 'fun stuff' too. Choral background so vocals is where I started and learned to play guitar so I wouldn't be stuck singing with the radio. My strentgth is in my acoustic, but play electric, keyboads, and I have a bass. Realistically, I'd say I'm definitely above intermediate, it really depends on what I'm playing. I played in a band last year and the rock'n roll thing was totally new to me and quite fun and I did just fine. Got tired of it when the material got too much into the 'chick music'. Please see influences for the stuff I like to play. Would really like to hook up with someone that is into harmonic vocals and the same type of music I am. At this point, I think I'd just like to start out for fun. I think when you start out thinking of gigging, you start choosing material to please the crowd instead of yourself. I've always kind of 'dreamed' of having a group of friends you just went over and hung out with and played and sang music you liked. That's what I'm after. I'm 46, divorced with 2 kids, and with as much as I love music, it amazes me that I've never had a wife or girlfriend that was into music. Either way, I figure I've got nothing to lose with this before I head out to my patio to spend another night playing out there. I'm not sure if I"ll find many people interested in the same kind of music, so I'm just a basic member, so I can't respond to your replies on this site. James Taylor is why I picked up the guitar. I know a lot of his early material note for note. I play with his style and mix in some Travis picking. I do use a pick when the song calls for it. Other artists that influence what I do are: Jackson Browne, CSNY, Eagles, Neil Young, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, and various artists that wrote some of the above's material. David Wilcox is probably my most recent influence so not everything I like is from the stone age. All these artists have quite an array of genres they do, so this gives you an idea of the direction I'd like to go.

Really? Ok. Martin D41, Takamine 360S, Ibanez Classical Electric, Agile electric, Martin Backpacker are my 6 strings. Takamine 420S 12 string. Roland U20-sampling keyboard, Fender Squire Precision Bass. Various harmonicas. S&W California Blonde Amp, I won't bother with the effects, Mics (2) and stands and that little crap. Also have a Tascam Porta studio I'm staring at that I haven't pulled out of the box.
