ABOUT

So long as you're NOT looking for a straight jazz player or a superfast shredder, I could probably do whatever you are looking for. Certain things obviously better than others, but I like to think of myself as a highly adaptable player that loves projects that involve a good bit of improvisation.

I love to play funky music that grooves. I love the grit of the Stones and the Band. I love to rock. I love playing in bands that don't limit themselves to a strict genre of music. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to tightness but love to take chances in improv sections ... and when the time's right. Cut my teeth on classic rock and blues as a kid but have learned to appreciate the best of all genres over the years. Horn driven New Orleans funk really gets me going these days. I suppose I'm still primarily a rock player, but love to incorporate different aspects of country, jazz, bluegrass, funk, Afrobeat, weirdo, soul/R&B and fusion I've picked up/ripped off over the years.

In a perfect world, I'd play in a band that would make me and the audience feel what I feel when I listen to/saw live:

The Band
Late 90s Phish covering the Talking Heads' Crosseyed & Painless
Motown
Medeski Martin & Wood
Jimmy McGriff - Electric Funk
