San Francisco-based rock band Northern Waste searching for keyboard/synth player. Extra points if you can do backup vox. We play energetic, melodic, and danceable rock with a lot of social commentary in our lyrics. We've been together for a little less than a year, so we're still growing, but we've had a lot of traction in the Bay Area underground scene, and momentum is picking up. This is an opportunity to become a core member of an awesome band.

Here is what we sound like: s://northernwaste./releases

We're looking for someone with a solid foundation in jazz theory, but who can play a wide range of styles, as our music can range from punk to heavy rock, blues to country, and everything in between. Ideal influences would include Joey DeFrancesco, Ray Manzerak, Richard White of Pink Floyd, Glen McClelland of Ween, Herbie Hancock, Don Airy, etc. We need someone who can take our melodies/harmonies and expand upon them in interesting ways. We'd love someone who can write their own parts, learn the songs quickly, and hit the ground running. There's lots of room for experimentation in many of our songs, so we need someone who can take advantage of that.

We have a residency at PianoFight in October, so we're hoping to find someone who can get up to speed before then. September will be a month of heavy writing/practicing.

We currently practice for free at our guitarist's house in Lafayette, so we need someone willing to commute. It's far out there, but it's free, comfortable, and we get home cooking sometimes! We also practice in our singer's basement in SF here and there. So, mobility and flexibility is valued.

If you think you're the right person for us, send us a message with an example of your work!
