Drummer looking to jam on prog metal, jazz for fun or play paying gigs (or work up to it) in any style. I have always been a dedicated student of the instrument and have gone to lengths to expand my knowledge of rhythm and music. When I first started playing kit, I had a head full of drum corps, rudimental drumming, and the "monsters" such as Dave Weckl, Virgil Donati, and Dennis Chambers. An obsession with the rock band Tool instilled a love for polyrhythms that has lead to learning a little Afro-Cuban music (in an all percussion setting) and studying tabla formally with Jim Feist (of local world fusion group Mohjenjo Daro and Fareed Haque) for two years. I love North Indian Classical music in it's own right so if, by any chance, somebody plays sitar or harmonium and is familiar with the style, I would love to play. Later, I went into the army and, except for hacking on a practice pad, put playing on the shelf.
