Band to Join, Vocalist, Vocalist - Bass, Vocalist - Baritone, Vocalist - Tenor, Vocalist - Soprano, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Vocalist - Alto.

I am looking for a band to join where I can grow musically and use my passion for music in a different way. I currently play bass guitar at the church I attend and play in the percussion section in the Oklahoma City Symphonic Band. My musical background is fairly diverse and I’m looking to make a long-term commitment to something new. I am interested in joining one of the two types of bands.

Type one is a hard rock/borderline progressive band in the style of Skillet, Red, Disciple, Demon Hunter, or Dream Theater as a bassist. I really like the combination of raw power and subtle richness of those bands along with the spiritual component that they all bring to the table. Plus I have a six string bass and I’m not afraid to use any or all of them at any time.

Type two is a private party/wedding band where I am the full-time bassist (for a band without a horn section) or saxophone player/percussionist (for a band with a horn section). I have played tenor and baritone saxophone in jazz bands in high school and college, including the OCU jazz band Jazz Ensemble A at SWOSU. In this type of band I would be open to many different styles of music, including R&B, 70s/80s/90s rock, or a more jazz combo feel if it was playing saxophone.

I am looking to make a long term commitment and not just be a hired gun every once in a while as a bassist - there has to be consistency in that role. I am more willing for fill in roles as a saxophonist since it is not as foundational musically. I’m not someone who is flighty or dispassionate and I have no interest in working with those who are. I am looking for the right fit and not just a spot in a band. Generally speaking I am not available during the week for rehearsal because of family, OKC Symphonic Band, and family commitments (my kids are both involved in sports and their games and practices are generally during the week). My best availability is on Sunday afternoon but I can be somewhat flexible for the right fit. I have been playing saxophone, bass, and guitar off and on for a total of over 30 years and I am just looking for an opportunity for something new. Please let me know if you want to learn more, set up a meeting, or just talk music. My email is cdew
