ABOUT

All About Randy "Da Animal" Porter
Hi! Welcome to my page. Let me introduce myself.

I started playing drums late in life....at 15 years old, when I picked up a pair of my friend's drumsticks, I was hooked...although I had always been fascinated by drums.

I then began the process of learning how to play drums, self-taught I began reading and working with any kind of "Learn to Play the Drums" I could get. The next school year I enrolled in beginner band where I was immediately advanced to intermediate band. I studied in this class for a year, then I advanced to "Marching Band / Concert Band", where I played not only the snare drum, but tri-toms, tympani, xylophone and concert chimes to name a few. I also began my studies in stage band where I furthered my learning on a drum set. My Senior year I also took music theory.

After my graduation from Woodlawn High in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I began playing drums with some local and regional touring bands, Hoo Dee Hoo, Studebaker Hawk, Eastwinds, Live Oak, Memories, Timepiece & Liz Mixon and The Southern Breeze Show Band. While playing with some of these bands, we opened for the likes of Willie Nelson, David Allen Coe, Hank Williams, Jr and Percy Sledge to name a few.

After a few years of dedicating myself to my family and being a father, I was asked to join Island Fever Band, where I have been behind the drums since 1999. We have played all over Louisiana, fairs and festivals, and also all along the Southeast Gulf coast. We have opened for the likes of The Beach Boys and The Kingsman.

I offer my services for session work, live work or any other projects you may have. I have pro equipment and can read / write charts. I also have experience with creating drum tracks via drum module programs. I can also offer my services on a small electronic kit for small venues that may not be good for large acoustic kits. So, contact me and let's discuss it.

Many thanks to everyone who has supported me through the years and continue to do so. Most of all, I'd like to thank my parents...they supported me and ALWAYS encouraged me. Love ya mom and dad!

Have a great day everyone, thanks for checking out my page. PEACE!
