ABOUT

Age 5 I began piano lessons, in preparation for the opportunity to join the school band's percussion section at age 10. Freshman year I carried the 4th (of 5) bassdrum in the drumline, and the following year was one of two Tenors in the line, my performance earning us the title of "Best Tenors - TX 3A" in 2001. I am rudiment trained, and a product of a more than proper musical upbringing by my parents, my father a guitarist of 40+ years.

Influences

My world is a reggae one no doubt....I love ALL GOOD music, regardless of genre, as long as there's talent and passion portrayed overall, I at the very least respect and acknowledge the skill. My biggest single influence on my drumming technique is without a doubt Carter Beauford (DMB), and you can tell by my use of broken hi-hat / tight snare grooves, and my rotation between traditional, matched, and open-handed grips. I can be known for a snare so tight it sounds like gunshot (I have a marching snare in my bedroom), and more cymbals than drums....I am at home on a 3 or 4 piece quality kit surrounded with quality (not bronze) cymbals and various percussion accessories.
