ABOUT

My name is Dakota Taylor. I am a lead/rhythm guitar song writer. I write most of the music I play, I also write lyrics for those songs. On top of that I also play the bass, though not my main instrument I can say with confidence that I am at least, if not more, proficient with the bass guitar than at rhythm 6 string electric, but that is really my brothers job, the bass player for the band I am trying to start.
I can most easily define my music as undefined. If I had to define it it would most likely go something like this: Melodic/Heavy/Bordering on thrash/Metal. I enjoy a certain variety in my music, therefor my songs usually comprise of many different parts, be it a calm acoustic intro, or a heavy electric guitar riff, every now and again I will whip out some lead guitar improv. I guess thats why I put, Other down in the style category, I cant describe my style, I wanted to put down Alt and Christian Contemporary but couldn't.

I marked other in the looking for category for the soul fact I dont really know what Im looking for. So if you play an instrument and think you can bring something to the table, be it piano, violin, cello etc.... give a call and we can see how it will work.
Also, I can be rather stubborn, I am looking for a vocalist in general, with the exclusion of screamo, but to sing lyrics that I have written. I may be persuaded other wise but lyrics are something I enjoy writing and are important to me.
Also many of my lyrics are influenced by my religious stance (Christian), so, frankly, a satan worshiper would not be a good fit, LOL. So if your a singer and have no issue singing pre-written lyrics and are religion tolerant, and not screamo, it should work out well.

Influences

Allot of my influences are instrumental guitar players such as, Marty Friedman, Buckethead etc... But when it comes down to it I am really influenced by some good metal, although I do prefer a good scale of emotion in the music I listen too.
Some of the bands I would consider to be influences would include: Savatage, Tourniquet, Alter Bridge etc... there are many, I could go for days.
When it comes to lyrics I do quite like some depth involved, though to an expert lyric writer my lyrics may be considered shallow, lol. As stated before my lyrics are generally influenced by my Christian faith. When it comes to lyrics I would say the most inspiring would be that of Christian Contemporary Folk'ish music, I guess you may call it. I dont know that I have been to influenced by these artists, but some musicians I enjoy listening to in that category would include, Rich Mullins, David Crowder, Keith Green etc...
