Oculus is a heavy metal/progressive metal band from Chicago (South side area/Midway) looking to regroup with very talented musicians. Oculus has been around since 2010 and has much to offer for talented metal musicians who are passionate about being in a band. We've become a bit more than an average garage band: we have played about 25various gigs across Illinois and the Chicagoland area, and have much gigging experience outside of the band.

Due to recent conflicts within the band, we have had 3 band members who have either departed or been let go. We now currently in search for 3 talented musicians with a variety of musical taste. We need a FRONTMAN/VOCALIST, RHYTHM GUITAR PLAYER, and BASS PLAYER.

Oculus' influences are: Dream Theater, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, Tool, Megadeth, 80s Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Testament, Anthrax, Slayer, Heathen, A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, Nightwish, Lamb of God, Meshuggah, Rush, Breaking Benjamin, Slipknot, Black Label Society, Tantara, Mastodon, and much more.

Bands/Artists we also very much like: Children of Bodom, A Day to Remember, Dokken, AC/DC, H.I.M, Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne, Lacuna Coil, Jason Becker, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Michael Angelo Batio, Liquid Tension Experiment, Transatlantic, Tarja Turunen, Exodus, Over Kill, Disturbed, Symphony X,

We are currently in the studio under Svenum Records and are wrapping up our instrumental tracks. We have 6 songs currently ready for vocals -- 6 ORIGINAL tracks. The grand majority of the songs we play together are originals -- and our live shows consist of only original material. (With a cover or two thrown in)

We are currently searching for a vocalist that has a very high range while still being able to sing heavier music. If you match our criteria but can also scream (e.g Phil Anselmo/Randy Blythe) that will be a plus. But keep in mind, we are not a screaming band. It would only be added where we, as a band, see fit.

Vocalists we are basing our search by:

James LaBrie
Phil Anselmo (Cowboys From Hell/Vulgar Display Era)
M. Shadows
Maynard James Keenan
Corey Taylor
James Hetfield (Black Album Era)
Bruce Dickinson
Brent Smith
Matt Heafy
David Draiman
Ben Burnley
Jeremy McKinnon

Auditions will be held by performing 8 songs of our choosing so we can tell exactly what you can or cannot sing. The wider the range, the better -- we need someone who can sing relatively high while maintaining masculinity in his voice. While these are the type of vocalists we are looking for -- They're just shreds of styles we very much are looking for. Having creativity and uniqueness is a must. We're looking for complete originality with the same kind of influences as listed.

Our vocalist/Singer must be between the ages of 17 and 21 (generally). We are between the ages of 18 and 19 currently.
Aside from having wide vocal abilities, we are also searching for someone who has good writing abilities. We do write our own material and we have 10 newer songs in the works. We require a frontman with much initiative and dedication to a band.

We are looking for people whose ambitions consist of a professional career in music, so we require as much professionalism as can be delivered. We are not the immature garage band we may have been 2 years or so ago, so we will not tolerate ass-holeism or selfishness.
