ABOUT
Dani Tempest: Mellotronist/ Analog Synth Junkie/ Drummer/ Composer/ Sound Designer
I enjoy composing original soundscapes and scores in my home studio as well as experimenting/ collaborating with other artists on their projects. Ever since I discovered what made those beautifully haunting orchestration sounds I grew up listening to on my parents old Beatles and Moody Blues records, I have been forever infatuated with the Mellotron and samples that moved me. So when you listen to my original compositions you'll probably notice that I multitrack many layers of Mellotron orchestration in every piece I compose. Currently, I'm producing a concept EP called Ghost In The Machine which will be filled with many beautifully haunting layers of swirling Mellotrons, various analog synths, thunderous drums, eerie electronic noise, and haunting soundscapes. Besides Mellotrons and synths, I'm also passionate about drums and piano. If you have a project you would like added orchestration, interesting noises, bigger drums or additional mixing/ programming, feel free to contact me with a demo and your idea's. Stay tuned for the release of my debut EP! Till then, enjoy some of the experiments I have been involved in from the past, and some recent original recordings for those who inspire me.

Eyes On Fire by Blue Foundation (Tempest Edit)
Eyes On Fire by Blue Foundation (Tempest Edit)
Blue Foundation did an amazing song that is brilliant without me doing anything to it. But if anyone knows me, I always add something more that I hear in my Mellotronic head. So I added Stargazer drone synths for some electronic touch, and of course a few Mellotron tracks. Enjoy! Ghost In The Machine
Ghost In The Machine Track number: 1 Genre: Electronic
This was the first piece I wrote and composed when I sat down with the sounds of a Mellotron beneath my fingertips. Recorded back in 2005 using the "Mike Pinder Presents Mellotron CD-ROM". (When I finally got it to work in Cubase! lol) The opening violin section is literally the first chords I played when I turned everything on and it actually worked with my controller! From there the song took on a life of its own, track by track inspiring the appropriate title 'Ghost In The Machine". Everything just came together so naturally almost as if a ghost was playing through me and the sounds of the Mellotron. I composed and mixed the song down within a couple of hours. It's pretty much straight forward Mellotron, no effects or mixing really except some old school mono panning I like to do for all of my recordings. later that night I added the piano track as well as the "Bossa Nova/Cello and Violins Moving Chords" vaguely heard in the background panning left to right as the 3 violins play. This song will be re-recorded for my debut EP by the same title. Mellotron Sounds Used: 3 Violins MK II Brass 8 Voice Choir Mk II Organ (Hammond) Bossa Nova/Cello and Violins Moving Chords

In A Dream by Calvin Brooks (Tempest Edit)
In A Dream by Calvin Brooks (Tempest Edit) Genre: Alternative
Written by Calvin Brooks (Guitar, Vocals) I collaborated on this beautiful track "In A Dream". I added all the soundscapes, Analog synths, Mellotron Flutes, Violins, Cello, Choirs with some trashy low fi drum programming and mixdown.

Alone
Alone Genre: Electronic
This little "odd ditty" is the result of experimenting with another "Tron Esque" instrument, the Optigan along with the Mellotron. In this track I experiment with the rhythms. So all the drums are actually rhythm sections from the Optigan and Mellotron. I also use the Mellotron Flutes, Brass, Violins and Choirs.
