SEEKING

Band to Join.

ABOUT

I am a 42 year old drummer who lives in Newark, DE. I have been playing drum set for 27 years and marching percussion for 18 years. I have been gigging in the Newark and Wilmington area since 1998 when I moved here to attend the University of Delaware.

I am currently in a progressive metal band but we only work in a studio and we do not gig. I am seeking to join an established band that plays gigs and writes great music. Even though my background is mainly metal, I am open to a myriad of musical styles. I would like to play some new music so I am interested in trying out for cover bands, country bands, rock bands - genres I haven't played in a while but am looking forward to playing again.

I am easy to get along with, dedicated at getting better at my craft, have a mixture of semi-professional and professional gear, have my own transportation, can practice any night of the week and gig any night of the week.

Influences

My influences are wide and varied. I like most music but will listen to anything with great drumming or great songwriting, preferably both! Drumming influences are Buddy Rich, Dave Lombardo, Vinnie Paul, Danny Carey, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Carter Beuaford, Chad Wackerman, Marco Minneman, Akira Jimbo. These are drummers that are strive to emulate. Bands that I hold close are Tool, Pantera, Meshuggah, Slayer, Slipknot, Megadeth, Mastadon, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Corelia, Animals as Leaders, Oceans Ate Alaska, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Bjork, Bob Marley, Coldplay, Dave Mathews Band, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix (I held on man!), Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, The Mars Volta, The Arcade Fire, Bloc Party and U2. I like big band jazz like Buddy Rich but don't play it much and I still listen to a lot of classical. Ludwig van Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, and Mozart are the big hitters there.

EQUIPMENT

I use a DW Performance Series 6 piece as my primary set. I use 3 different snare drums as well to cover most genres. I also have a Gretsch Catalina Maple, PDP LX series 5 piece that I use for students and practice spots, DDrum Rock kit and a Tama Rockstar set. Gibraltar hardware for cymbal stands and a Tama Iron Cobra Double Bass Pedal. Drum set accessories include jam blocks, cowbells, tambourines, shakers and a gajate bracket with pedal. Drum heads are Evans EC2's for the batter heads and Evans resonant for the resonant heads. EMAD2 on the bass drums. I have a mix of cymbals, all Zildjian. What can I say, I'm a fan! I cannot fit them all onto one kit at a time but it is nice to have options for different genres of music.
