ABOUT

After a 15 year break from the band business to raise my family, I'm back at it. My main talent is in vocals, though I have recently taught myself how to strum an acoustic guitar well enough to collaborate with other musicians as a rhythm guitar player and lead vocalist. Though I am currently committed to a working band project, I am open to other collaborations, whether in the studio or on the stage, big or small. Whatever will help me continue growing as a performer.

Prior to my 15 year break, I worked as the lead, front person in a few bands. While I was taking my break, I kept busy singing in other venues. I took up barbershop quartet for awhile. Won some impressive contests along the way. I've also enjoyed working as a music director for a local theater group, teaching and preparing children from ages 6 to 18 for their annual music theater productions.

I have to admit, my guitar isn't yet the missing appendage that I would like it to become some day, but I'm keeping with it nonetheless. I use a capo, if that bugs you, best keep it to yourself... for me, it's a means to accompany my vocals which is my primary passion. Lead vocals... now that's wired in solid. I prefer to cover the majority of the lead vocals in any band project. My voice holds up very well. I am also highly skilled at singing harmonies. Additionally, I have very good natural rhythm... something that every quality musician needs.

Creating music with other musicians is one of the greatest joys for me and I love it when it sounds good! I'm dedicated to learn and practice. I do have one hang-up though... I need for the musicianship and showmanship to be tight. If it takes time to get there, understood, but at the end of the day, that has to be the main objective.

Message me if any of this resonates with you.

Influences

A lot...
Grew up on old 50's and 60's with mom;
singer songwriter, hippie and funk 70's with dad;
big brother got me hooked on 80's hair bands;
friends filled in the blanks with metal and psychedelic rock;
the radio covered the "pop" and "classic rock";
The 90's.... they gave us some good stuff...

Country comes and goes for me but people like it and I do enjoy performing it. I'm also a musical dork... I might get caught listening to Barbara Streisand, Hall and Oats, Neil Diamond. The Judds, Indigo Girls and even Roger Whittaker. I also enjoy a lot of Christian music.

I'm a quick learner. I'm not stuck on any specific genre, but I like to perform and I like people to come listen and enjoy themselves along with me. However, I don't like trashy music. I pay attention to the messages that come out of my mouth. I have to think about my own children and the children I am entrusted to teach. If I wouldn't feel comfortable singing a song in front of them, I prefer not to sing it anywhere else.
