Dave Ostrowski
~Composer from Saratoga Springs, NY
~Bassist for HellCat Maggie

Featured audio is a brand new piece for string orchestra entitled "Light of Winter". I wrote this for the 2018 Winter solstice. Enjoy!

I’ve been a bassist for over 40 years. I play with passion and conviction, and have been a solid and reliable asset to every group I've had the pleasure to work with. I can be a freight train, smooth as glass, or anything in between

I’m an ensemble player, and see my role as the guy who glues the whole thing together. I have great chops at my disposal, but am happiest just being the right kind of solid. In the past 7 years, I went from a long stint in a classic prog tribute act, to a Country/Elvis band, to a modern/classic pop band - very different genres, but the same attention to detail; same acute awareness of the individual players, and the same rock solid oneness with the drummer.

I'm presently playing bass with the high energy Celtic rock band "HellCat Maggie" - covering bands like Flogging Molly, The Real McKenzies, and The Young Dubliners. We also work up rock arrangements of traditional jigs, reels, and popular Celtic favorites, and are working on a slew of original material. We play in and around the Capital District, and our gig schedule can be found on our page:

I have a bachelors degree in music composition from Berklee, an inventive writing and interpretive style, a great ear, a killer sound, and I sing well. I read, write, arrange, transcribe, and am a quick learn. I double on acoustic guitar and mandolin, have been in a couple impressive female fronted acoustic duets, and am open to something like that as well. I have a pro rig, and reliable transportation.
