As far as song writing goes; I think you need to bend to the song. It will take you where it is supposed to go. The song could be 38 seconds or 10 minutes. It is all up to the song.
If you are in need of a dedicated guitarist who won't flake on you or bail because you decide to write a jazz song (or whatever is the polar opposite of what you usually play) please contact me.
