Band to Join, Lead Guitar, Background Singer, Keyboard, Drums, Bass Guitar.ABOUT
I am putting together a band to play covers, and a few originals. The purpose is to establish SUPERLOVE as a top-level local entertainment provider, into the forseeable future. All the covers are well-known dance tunes of a wide variety (set list below), the goal is to play a little bit of many styles of pop & rock, country, etc., and make good money while having fun. Please note that although I love music this project is aimed at getting a good crowd in order to make money, and doing what is needed to accomplish that.
I am a rock & jazz drummer of 30+ years, and a vocalist/songwriter, and I have experience recording music and programming midi tracks, etc. I also have experience playing in a top tier local cover project, which taught me something about the local music market from the view of venue operators and audience members. My mission statement is: "Get girls dancing and they'll come back." I love many songs that this band will never be able to play, and I'm fine with that. Playing music for large, enthusiastic crowds, and getting well paid ($5-600 each per weekend) more than makes up for it in my book.
I have been programming keyboard tracks to back the band live, and have the technical basics worked out, they sound great. Using tracks involves use of a click track by the drummer, but there is no added requirement for anyone else in the band, so no one else needs earbuds or anything like that. I am 80% done working on the tracks for the current set list. I am also planning on covering the lead vocals. So, I am covering drums, lead vocals, and keyboards myself, and it is working out more smoothly than I ever thought. All I need, then, is bass and guitar. What I am looking for is a bassist and a guitarist who want to be part of something big, new, and exciting, and that will last awhile.
What I am looking for in players is:
- Ability to transpose a song 1/2 to a couple steps down (some are key changed for vocals)
- Ability to sing backing vocals is a big plus, but not a deal breaker. Lead vocals too.
- Musical ability is nice but motivation is nicer. I don't need Geddy Lee (but I'll take him if he's available!)
- Availability to practice twice per week until we learn the set
- Highly motivated to hit the stage ASAP
- Availability for 3-4 shows per month (to start)
- Some stage presence/crowd interaction/wardrobe awareness
- Generally positive attitude.
I am working on this project and practicing the parts every day. This thing could be playing shows in 6-8 weeks if I find the right players. I am done wasting time with ill-concieved projects; if you are as well, t e x t me at: (four oh two) 616 twenty-eight 75. Or e m a i l me at: davewp a t . c o m
