ABOUT

I played Baritone Saxophone for 9 years up until High School. I was pretty good. I made alternate baritone sax for the Colorado All-State Jazz Band in 2019. I haven't played in a band since then but I have been dying to get back out there and make some friends playing music again. I have a very good sound and a very good ear for detail, musicality, and Rythm and am pretty good at improv as well!

Influences

Why Ska you ask? Well I have gotten into a lot of punk, emo, and alternative music in recent years and I remember hearing an interview with Jeff Rosenstock (my literal favorite person) talking about his love for Ska Music and how it allowed for horn players to have some fun playing gigs with their friends after school and It got me thinking that maybe that would be a great way to use my experience on the saxophone as an outlet for my love of punk/alternative music! I started listening to more ska infused punk stuff with bands like Less than Jake, early NOFX, Bomb the Music Industry!, and this local band called the Potato Pirates!

In terms of Jazz influence I am obsessed with Gerry Mulligan and Joe Temperley as two of my Baritone Saxophone idols. I liked Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band a lot also.

EQUIPMENT

I have my own 1967 Conn 12M Baritone Sax with an old Pickle Mouthpiece for a fat round warm tone but I'll probably look into buying an otto link if I end up finding a ska group to play with!

I also own a Bass guitar, Electric Guitar and Acoustic guitar. I am still pretty novice at Bass and Guitar but figured that might be worth mentioning as well.
