Dean Sarantos was born in the American midwest town of Elkhart, Indiana and began playing electric guitar in rock bands with high school friends in the area. Soon after high school, he began performing at nightclubs and campus parties in the rock band His Boy Elroy and the rhythm and blues band The Downtown Coolers while attending Indiana University. Shortly after graduating from college, Dean moved to Cleveland, Ohio and became active in the vibrant alt rock music scene there, joining the jangly indie rock band the Gypsy Moths. Following the dissolution of the Gypsy Moths, Dean joined the alt-rock band In Fear of Roses. With Dean on lead guitar, In Fear of Roses performed opening slots or shared bills with Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, Rusted Root, The Afghan Whigs, Catherine Wheel, Material Issue and Donnie Iris.

In 2016, Dean founded funky blues rock band Blue Nitro, which in 2017, released the EP "Fueled Up". Dean is currently recording and performing in rock and reggae projects in Chicago and SW Michigan, sharing bills with artists such as Mighty Mystic and EarthKry.
