Dean Smith aka Dancing Bear is a one-man showcase of Crooning, Swooning Cabaret and Blues tunes and clever interpretations of classic old school favourites.
Direct from Los Angeles Dean, an experienced performer in Australia and all over the globe,
Dean’s Cabaret show captivates the audience as he emulates the styles of Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Louis Armstrong, Bo Diddley and Dean Martin to name a few. His eclectic talents include guitar, blues harp, and didgeridoo that enhance his Australiana Vibe.
Dean, a natural born singer is also established as a professional sculptor (BA Fine Art Sculpture VCA, Kansas City Art institute) and vibrant performance artist around the world. Dean,s extensive musical and artistic career has had many highlights including: Australian and International Festivals (New Orleans Mardi Gras, Kansas City Folk Festival, Renaissance Festival and Melbourne Fringe Festival, Werribee Park Carols by candlelight). Theatre Restaurant (Dracula's), Australian Folk songs for public Schools throughout the USA.
In Los Angeles , Dean developed a unique lounge duo with piano virtuoso Bill Bickelhaupt (ex Motown Diana Ross), performing at renowned venues ,such as The Smokehouse and the Finns Restaurant to name a few.
The act showcased swing, jazz, blues, rock and ragtime rhythms.
The Dancing Bear takes the audience to the lounge stylings of famous crooners. Uninhibited by fear, as the show rolls along familiar sounding tunes and hilarious stories, excite the audience into laughing, dancing and singing enjoyment.
Dancing Bear, the experienced entertainer, feels the vibe of the audience and incorporates colourful costumes, crazy props, various musical instruments, image projections and audience participation.
The Dancing Bear Show attracts large crowds due to his strong following.
