I'm currently playing bass with Johnny Black & the JBirds. Also in the process of starting up a Celtic/punk/metal type band along the lines of Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, and the Pogues. Currently have a drummer and guitarist on board. Need traditional Celtic instrumentalists and a vocalist.

I'm far from a seasoned professional, but I have a decent amount of gig experience, lots of enthusiasm, a decent rig, and maturity. I'm mostly a finger-style player although I bring the pick on occasion. I'm not a flashy player. I prefer a solid groove to wacky bass soloing and I'm not a slapper (no "bickety bickety" bass for me). Like many bass players, I started on the six string when I was a teen. Played guitar sporadically throughout my 20s and "discovered" and fell in love with the 4 string in my early 30s.

Influences
Primarily my influences are punk (Minutemen, Black Flag, Fugazi, Bad Brains, etc), metal (Sabbath, Slayer, Maiden, etc), and indie (Sonic Youth, Meat Puppets, fIREHOSE, Pavement, The Fall, etc) and classic rock (ZZ Top, Rush, Zeppelin, AC/DC) . However, I'm very open to playing different styles to include classic rock, power pop, reggae, or whatever. Basically, I just love to play and love to be on a stage with my bass in front of people.
EQUIPMENT
2001 Rickenbacker 4003, a 2001 Fender USA Jazz bass, 2006 MIJ Fender Jaguar bass, a very old misc part Fender Mustang bass, and even a Fender BG31 acoustic bass, all 4 stringers. I have an Ashdown 300Mag head with Avatar 2x12 cab, Avatar 2x10 Neo, and a SansAmp bass driver DI. Also have a few other pedals I rarely use. I like to keep my sound pretty simple, not overly processed.
