ABOUT

Some tips for musicians. Apparently many are not very good at promoting themselves. Kinda surprised I need to say this...

1) Put some audio of your work. People want to hear how you sound!
2) Don't list everything under the sun as for what you are seeking or what you play. I see entries with accordion, bagpipes, fiddle, uke, mandolin, DJ, etc. all for a bass player. I also see things like bass players and the picture is of them playing guitar! WTF?
3) Speaking of pics, have a few.
4) Perhaps give an inkling about how to be contacted. I know that's going outside of the free tier but honestly, if BandMix were better I'd pay for it. See below.
5) You might try indicating where say in San Diego you are. San Diego's pretty spread out.
6) If you're putting together a band then list exactly what band members you need to complete the band. If you are say a singer and list all the other members in the band you want then just say you're a singer looking for a band. And keep this list up to date! Continuing to advertise for players you want that you already have makes you look disorganized.
7) If you're no longer looking for anybody or have found your gig, inactivate your profile - see also 6.
